The William L. Danks Funeral Home was founded by the late Frank Casebier in 1910. At his death a son,
Paxton Casebier, operated the firm until another son, Erwin L. Casebier, graduated mortuary school and assumed operations.
The building that originally housed the firm was located at First and Main Streets. In the early 1950s
Mr. and Mrs. Erwin L. Casebier purchased the dwelling that once was the home of the late Dr. McKenney and coverted it into
a funeral home at Third and Lafayette Streets, which is now the home of William L. Danks Funeral Home. There have been several
alterations to the building including two chapels and a visitation room.
William L. Danks was employed by the Erwin L. Casebier Funeral Home from 1959 until 1966 at which time
he and his wife, Ima, purchased the business along with the real estate. Their son, Jeffrey Danks, joined the firm in 1979
after receiving his funeral director and embalmers license. The firm continues to be family owned and operated along
with Chris Hays and John Danks. Also joining the firm is Hugh E. Duke, Jr. Hugh
Eddie was formerly associated with his father, the late Hugh E. Duke, Sr. at funeral homes in Centertown, Hartford, and Dundee.
He is available to actively serve families that once requested the services of Duke Funeral Homes and is welcomed by the staff
of the William L. Danks Funeral Home.
The values established in 1910 continue to prevail today at William L. Danks Funeral Home as were initiated
in 1910.
We are a full service funeral home with a full time staff that has no other interests, but to provide
a professional and compassionate service to the bereaving families that call on us.
