IN MEMORY OF
Walter C. "Reb" Barnett

Walter C. "Reb" Barnett, 76, of Reynolds Station, formerly of Knox, Indiana, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Ohio County Hospital.   He was retired from maintenance work, was a member of United Christian Church and was an ordained minister.  He also was an accomplished guitarist.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Lacy and Cora Barnett; brothers, Charles Barnett and William M. Barnett; and a grandson, Joshua Lilly.

Survivors include his wife, Della Jane Barnett; a son, Marcus (Valerie) Barnett of Reynolds Station; daughters, Michelle (Robert) Sorrels of Falls of Rough, Connie (Craig) Shultz of Reynolds Station and Toyie (Craig) Cottew of Rockport, Indiana; a brother, Thomas Barnett of Knox; a sister, Janice Fletcher of Arizona; ten grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren. 

Services are at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville with burial in Deanefield Cemetery.  Visitation is after 9:00 a.m. Saturday.  Special thanks to Ohio County Hospital and nursing staff, Ohio County Hospice and Dr. Gregory for going above and beyond.

IN MEMORY OF
Mamie Lee Fuqua

Mamie Lee Fuqua, 90, of Fordsville, died Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.  She was born in Hancock County to the late Lester and Mary Alma Boling.  She was retired from Fordsville Bank and was a member of Fordsville Baptist Church.  She was preceded also in death by her husband, Leamon Fuqua; and two brothers, Charles Boling and Curtis "Turkey" Boling.

Survivors include a son, Bert Leon (Jane) Fuqua of Shelbyville; a daughter,  Brenda Coffield of Fordsville; grandchildren, Dr. Greg (Shannon) Fuqua, Kevin (Cindy) Fuqua, Belinda (Darrell) Barker, Anthony (Tammy) Coffield and Joshua (Sarah) Fuqua; great-grandchildren, Brittany (Adam) Ross, Jacob (Anna) Fuqua, Zachary Fuqua, Devin Coffield, Lydia Fuqua, Julia Fuqua and Susanna Fuqua; and great great-grandchildren, Ella Jane Fuqua, Rylynn Ross and Waitman Ross.

Services are 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville with burial in Fordsville Cemetery.  Visitation is 2:00-8:00 p.m. Friday and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

IN MEMORY OF
Anna Bates

Anna Bates, 96, of Montgomery, Illinois, died Saturday, January 27, 2018 in Naperville, Illinois. She was born in Ohio County and was retired from Furnace Electric. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Bates; a son, Curt Bates; a daughter, Betty Rusher; and a grandson, Rodney Rusher.

Survivors include a son, Larry Bates; grandchildren, William (Betty) Rusher, Dennis (Donna) Rusher, Curt Bates, Jr. and Sarah Ann Ozmose; seven great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville with burial in Fordsville Cemetery. Visitation is after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Freda W. Evans Moxley

Freda W. Evans Moxley, 86, of Falls of Rough died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, at her home. She was born in Falls of Rough and was a homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church and Fordsville Eastern Star #326. Freda was preceded in death by her husband, James Isaac Moxley on Jan. 13, 1977.

Survivors include her children, Mary W. (Richard) Williams of Caneyville, Marcella C. Burns and Willie M. (Tammy) Moxley, both of Falls of Rough, Anthony J. (Faye) Moxley of Fort Myers, Florida, and Wayne T. (Linda) Moxley of Fordsville; a brother, Tony Evans of Falls of Rough; sisters Annice Garrett of Fordsville and Darlene Evans of Falls of Rough; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Pattiville, with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation is from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville, and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

William K. "Kenny"  Richards

William K. "Kenny"  Richards, 59, of Fordsville, died Monday, January 8, 2018, at his home.  He was an oilfield driller and a member of Providence Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Richards, five daughters, Jennifer Richards Reed, Sherry Richards, Crystal Richards Fuqua, Rebecca Lynn Elliott and Annie Leigh Lloyd; a sister, Rita Richards; and thirteen grandchildren.

Memorial services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018,  at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville.  Visitation is after 10:00 a.m. Thursday.

James D. "Donnie" Hayes, 55, of Fordsville, died Monday, January 1, 2018, at his home.  He was born in Clarkson and attended Noah's Chapel Church of God. 

Survivors include his mother, Alice Hack of Morgantown; brothers, Ronnie D. Hayes and Tony Hayes, both of Caneyville and Johnny Hayes of Morgantown; and a sister, Lauretta Mackin of Caneyville.

Dottie Moxley Baird

Dottie Moxley Baird, 90, of Owensboro passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at her home. Born in Ohio County, she was the daughter of the late Ulysses S. and Mamie Moxley, and the loving wife of Arthur Baird. She retired from General Electric after more than 40 years of service and was a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church. She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Carole E. Briesath; her son, Charles K. Church Jr.; her brothers, Dennis, Delmer and Arthur Obenchain and Samuel Moxley; and her sisters, Anola Hedden, Reba Franks and Dorothy Randall.

She is survived by her husband of 14 years, Arthur Baird of Owensboro; her son, Stephen Church (Desiree´) of Lexington; her sister, Mary E. Greathouse of Ohio County; eight grandchildren, Brian, Brianna, Jana, Sara, Tiffany, Danielle, Andrea and Carole; and eight great-grandchildren, Haley, Ashton, Christine, Kiefer, Claire, Meaghan, Truman and Bridgette.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2017, at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville, with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Pattiville. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Jesse Raymond Slack

Jesse Raymond "Uncle Jesse" Slack, 84, of Owensboro, died Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Fordsville to the late Jess and Eunice Slack. He was retired from the oil fields and was of the Baptist faith. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was also preceded in death by his companion, Lois Peveler.

He is survived by a sister, Nanette Mattingly of Fordsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 29, 2017, at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Pattiville. Visitation is 2:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday and after 9:00 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

IN MEMORY OF
Dr. Mary Ann Matthews (Coffield)

Dr. Mary Ann Matthews (Coffield), of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away at home on Monday, October 23, 2017 surrounded by her loving husband and family. Mary Ann was born on October 21, 1938 in Fordsville, KY. She graduated from Fordsville High School in 1956. She obtained her teaching degree from the University of Louisville where she also obtained her Doctorate in Education. She worked for many years as an educator.

She enjoyed helping young students improve their reading skills and older students and adults to expand upon their writing abilities. She also served as a Sunday School teacher and taught in Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed reading, writing poems and was a passionate photographer of nature. She also enjoyed spending time with her cherished lab, Missy. She was preceded in death by her parents, George (Billy) and Anne Coffield.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert (Bob) Preston Matthews, Jr. and three children; Robert P. Matthews, III (Lola), Carol Matthews-De Castillo (Jose), and Joel Matthews (Barbie). She has three grandchildren; Joshua Matthews (Sirena), Brandon Matthews (Nicole) and Daniel Castillo-Matthews. She also has one great grand-daughter, Daphne Rose Matthews. She is also survived by her brother, Herman (Gene) Coffield.

She will be greatly missed by her husband, family, friends and all who knew her.

Services are at 12:00 noon Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at Fordsville Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Beatty Cemetery, Fordsville. Visitation is after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
