Byron A. Wedding

Byron A. Wedding, 87, of Hartford died September 21, 2018, at Ohio County Hospital.  He was a paratrooper in the Korean War and was a member of the V.F.W. and D.A.V.

He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Wedding; two children, Roy Adrian (Beverly) Wedding and Kathy Sue (Donnie Wiggins) Wedding;  brother, Kenneth Wedding; five grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 25,2018,  at Fordsville Cemetery with military honors by the Ohio County Honor Guard.  Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville.

IN MEMORY OF
Robert Franklin "Bob" Rice

Robert Franklin "Bob" Rice, 93, of Fordsville, died Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Ohio County Hospital.  He was an Army veteran, was retired from Sun Windows and a member of Fordsville Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Louis Rice; a brother, Delbert Lee Rice; and sisters, Dorthy Partridge and infant sister, Doris Rice.

Survivors include his wife, Velma Jean Rice of Fordsville; three daughters, Carole (Bobby) Boling of Valparaiso, Indiana, Bonnie Sue (Larry) Payne of Hartford and Bert Lynn (Stan) Burks of Hawesville; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and six great great-grandchildren.

Services are 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Fordsville Baptist Church with burial in Fordsville Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation is 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville, and after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

IN MEMORY OF
Marion "Jean" Young

Marion "Jean" Young, 88, of Fordsville passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018, in care of Southern Hospice at Chandler Memory Care in Bowling Green.  Jean was retired from G.E. and taught GED classes for years at Fordsville.  Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jessie B. Young in 2000; father and mother, Willie and Maggie Hedden;  sisters, Pauline Morris, Frankie Kerr, Lucille Boyd, Bobbie Ferry, Clydia Banks, Dorothy Matthews and Gona Meriweather; and brothers, Grant, Pete and Denton Hedden.

Jean is survived by daughter, Marjorie (Tommy ) Moore and son, Eddy (Mary) Young; grandsons, Eddy and Michael Moore and Andy and Bradley Young; great-granddaughters, Addisyn and Gerricha Moore; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Pattiville with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.  Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville.

IN MEMORY OF
Damon Duff Gillim

Damon Duff Gillim, 84, of Hartford, died Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Ohio County Hospital.  He was retired from Industrial Mold as a machinist and had taught machinist classes at vocational school.  He attended Beech Valley United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Owensboro Hillbilly & Friendship Camping Club.  He was an avid fisherman and a loyal husband, father and grandfather.

Damon was preceded in death by his wives, Wilma Gillim and Agnes Muriel Gillim; his parents, Ortrie and Lillian Gillim; and brothers, Baby Boy Gillim and Jimmy Gillim.

Survivors include his son, Duff (Vicki) Gillim of Hartford; two granddaughters, Brandi (Bub) Smith of Dundee and Bridget (Aaron) Abbott of Reynolds Station; and five great-grandchildren, Brylee and Bowen Smith of Dundee and Keaton, Luke and Jake Abbott of Reynolds Station.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford.  Visitation is from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Gone fishing.

Lettie Josephine Gentry

Lettie Josephine Gentry, 84, of Falls of Rough, died Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Ohio County Hospital.  She was a homemaker and a member of Grand Rivers Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, Cota Stone and Marlon Haze Gentry; a son, Garry Delbert Stone; and a daughter, Patricia Annette Chitrala.

Survivors include a son, Carlos Clifton Stone of Seattle, Washington; a daughter, Rita (Jess) Lewis of Falls of Rough; two brothers, Alton Ray Richards of Hardinsburg and Dirk Richards of Owensboro; a sister, Jane Canary of Fordsville; eleven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

Services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Providence Baptist Church, Fordsville with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery at Pattiville.  Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

William Lewis Patton

William Lewis Patton, 93, of Dundee, died Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Ohio County Hospital.  He was a World War II Navy veteran and a retired truck driver.  He was a member of Fordsville United Methodist Church and a 58 year member of Fordsville Masonic Lodge #600.  He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Patton; his mother, Pearl Dean Welch; step-mother, Ruby Patton; and a step-daughter, Pam Cross.

Survivors include his beloved mate, Mary F. Smith of Dundee; two sons, Philip (Susan) Patton of Palisade, Colorado and Bradley (Stephanie) Patton of Knoxville, Tennessee; a step-daughter, Judy McCormick of Sacramento, California; a step-son, Dan Fenwrick of Livermore; sisters, Ana Rea Greer of Whitesville and Maxine Barker of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Chris (Kaara), Kimberly, Bradley, Sadie (Matt) and Joel (Kaleigh); six great-grandchildren, Will, Alyvia, Rylee, Opal, Kayla and Lola; and his little furry friend, Perri. 

Services are 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville with burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford.  Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

IN MEMORY OF
Christina "Tina" Morris

Christina "Tina" Morris, 53, of Reynolds Station, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at the Heartford House in Owensboro.  Tina died of complications from cancer, but she put up a good fight.  She was a member of Boling Chapel United Methodist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Morris; and a daughter, Jacey Morris.

Survivors include her parents, Homer and Vivian "Peachie" Edge of Reynolds Station; a daughter, JoVonna (Mark) Smiley of Reynolds Station; a sister, Cindy (Rob) Thorp of Hawesville; and a niece, Lindsey (Logan) Clouse of Philpot.

Memorial services are 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville.  Burial will be in Boling Chapel Cemetery at a later date.  Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Joseph Christopher "J.C." Edge

Joseph Christopher "J.C." Edge, of Dundee, entered in to his eternal reward with his family by his side on August 9, 2018.  J.C. was born on August 13, 1939, to the late Emer and Blanche (Wimsatt) Edge of Whitesville.  J.C. was preceded in death by a child; a grandson, Jesse Dwayne Edge; other grand/great-grandchildren; two brothers in their infancy; a brother, Jewel Edge; and sisters, Mary Ellen Wink and Dorothy Crisp. 

J.C. was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Fordsville.  In 2004, J.C. was a recipient of the Sophia Award for being an outstanding Senior Citizen, from the Diocese of Owensboro.  He was a 55 year member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local 633, in Owensboro.  J.C. was an avid "coon" and deer hunter and enjoyed his time outdoors with his family and friends.  He loved his Rocky Mountain horses, especially his horse Rocky.  J.C. didn't know a stranger and loved to talk and cut up with people.

J.C. will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife of 60 years, Maggie (May) Edge; their four sons, Byron (Judy) Edge of Dundee, Steve (Martha) Edge of Beaver Dam, Mark (Jennifer) Edge of Dundee and Denny (Joella) Edge of Dundee; and his sisters, Marie Schoenemann of Wisconsin and Lynn Boarman of Owensboro.  J.C. will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Kevin Edge of Utica, Amy Haywood of Fordsville, Allie Guill of Paducah, Stephen Edge of Beaver Dam, Kate Edge of Beaver Dam, William Edge of Belton, Emily Edge of Central City, Anthony Edge of Dundee, Tacia Slack of Beaver Dam, Melanie Domerese of Lewisport and Chris Sosh of Lewisport, as well as his great-grandchildren, spouses of his grandchildren, special nephews and nieces, and other family members and friends.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Church in Fordsville.  Private burial will be at a later date.  Visitation is from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday with prayers at 7:30 p.m. and from 9:00 - 10:45 a.m. Monday at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville.  Donations may be made in the form of masses said for J.C. to St. John the Baptist Church or to Hospice of Ohio County.

Wilbur Ray "W.R." Huff

Wilbur Ray "W.R." Huff, 81, of Fordsville died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was a retired fire equipment technician, a Navy veteran and was a member of Fordsville Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Matthews Huff of Fordsville; his sons, Barry (Elisabeth) Huff of Fordsville and Greg (Tonya) Huff of Owensboro; two grandsons, Avery Huff and Caden Huff, both of Owensboro; three brothers, Phillip Huff, Larry Huff and Garry Huff; and a sister, Lena Mae Muffet.

Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Fordsville Baptist Church with burial in Fordsville Cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Fordsville Baptist Church.
