Patrick H. Sanders Sr.

Patrick H. Sanders Sr., 62, of Fordsville, died Saturday, August 24, 2019, at his home. He was born in Hardinsburg to the late William and Martha Sanders. He had worked at National Office Furniture and was a Louisville Cardinal fan.

Survivors include his sons, Patrick (Kristen) Sanders Jr of Owensboro and Christopher (Tosha) Sanders of Fordsville; three grandchildren, Jada, Baleigh and Emma; the mother of his sons, Anna Sanders of Owensboro; brothers, Tom (Cathy) Sanders of Fordsville and Billy Sanders of Lewisport; sisters, Betty (Steve) Taylor of Fordsville and Sarah Jane Hale of Hudson; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Services are 12:00 noon Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville, with burial in Fordsville Cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund c/o Geary Funeral Home.

Betty Jo Staples

Betty Jo Staples, 83, of Fordsville, died Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at her home. She was born in Scottsboro, Alabama to the late Otis and Annie Dee Arnold. She had worked at the Glove Factory and Walmart and was a member of Newton Springs Baptist Church, Fordsville. Betty was preceded also in death by her son, David Wayne Staples; a brother, Sonny Arnold; and a sister, Mable Siebert.

Survivors include her husband, James Staples of Fordsville; her children, Jimmy (Liz) Staples and Debra Mattingly, both of Fordsville, Dennis (Kelly) Staples of Philpot and Derek (Julie) Staples of Jacksonville, Alabama; brothers, Mickey Arnold of Sturgis, Billy Arnold of Eufalla, Alabama and John Arnold of Leitchfield; sisters, Lou West of Canada and Julia Thurmon of Elizabethtown; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Services are 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019, at Newton Springs Baptist Church with burial in Fordsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Geary Funeral Home and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Fount Richards Jr.

Fount Richards Jr., 88, of Fordsville, died Saturday, August 3, 2019, at Fordsville Nursing & Rehab. He was born in Cannelton, Indiana to the late Fount Sr and Flora Catherine Richards. He was a minister, an Army veteran and a member of Newton Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded also in death by his wife, Mary Imogene Richards; and a brother, Bruce Richards.

Survivors include his brothers, Charles Richards of Clarksville, Indiana, J.D. (Polly) Richards of Hebron, Indiana and Joe (Connie) Richards of Owensboro; and a sister-in-law, Judy Richards of Hartford.

Services are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville, with burial in Fordsville Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Carolyn Lee Phipps

Carolyn Lee Phipps, 76, of Beaver Dam died Friday, Aug. 2, 2019, at the Heartford House. She was born in McHenry to the late Wilbert and Belva Baize. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ray Phipps Sr.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna (Steve) Staup of Evansville, Indiana; her son, Donald Ray Phipps Jr. of Beaver Dam; three grandsons, Nick (Katie) Mayes and Jonathan (Charity) Mayes, both of Cynthiana, Indiana and Jacob Don Phipps of Beaver Dam; five great-grandchildren, Anneliese, Noah, Loralynn, Xander and Hallee Mayes; a brother, Victor Baize of Gibson City, Illinois; and two sisters, Margie Pruitt of Hartford and Martha Baize Curtis of Bloomington, Illinois.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Beaver Dam.

IN MEMORY OF
Joel Eugene Mattingly

Joel Eugene Mattingly, 50, of Fordsville died Saturday, July 20, 2019, on his family farm. He was a journeyman toolmaker at Service Tool & Die Inc. in Henderson. He was also co-owner of Mattingly Performance in Fordsville, where he specialized in Mustang restoration. Joel was a Christian and attended East Hartford Baptist Church with his family. He was a graduate of Fordsville High School, class of 1986, and Ohio County Vocational-Technical School. Joel enjoyed being outside on his farm, in the shop with his cars, and restoring antique tractors. This last week, Joel enjoyed a family vacation to Orlando. He had a great time with his family and enjoyed his first plane ride. Joel was preceded in death by his father, James W. Mattingly; and a niece, Addison Mattingly.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Dianna Mattingly of Fordsville; his daughters, Samantha (Tyler) Kessinger and Savannah Mattingly, all of Fordsville; a grandson, Bentley Kessinger of Fordsville; his mother, Merlene Mattingly of Fordsville; a brother, John (Ashley) Mattingly of Owensboro; three nephews, Aaron (Sarah) Flannery and Austin Flannery, both of Louisville, and Garrett Bellamy of Fordsville; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Don and Edna Sue McLemore of Fordsville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Donna (Bruce) Flannery of Louisville and Denise (Kelly) Clark of Fordsville; aunt and uncle Patsy and Jimmy Baxley of Beaver Dam; and several cousins.

Services are 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2019, at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville, officiated by Alex Loginow, Jeremy Robinson and Don McLemore. Burial will follow in Fordsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 9:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Sharon A. Fiser, 69, of Fordsville died Friday, July 19, 2019, at her home. She was retired from Kimball International and was a member of Providence Baptist Church, Fordsville. Sharon was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Hall; her parents, Oval Swift and Dorthy Mattingly; brothers, Jerry and Wally Swift; and a sister, Debbie Swift.

Survivors include her sons, Robert (Kim) Hall of Lexington and Kevin (Shannon) Hall of Falls of Rough; a sister, Donna (Bobby) Talley of Dundee; nine grandchildren: and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Fordsville Cemetery. Care has been entrusted to Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville.

Edgar Lee Burden, 84, of Fordsville, died Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at his home. He was born in Cannelton, Indiana to the late Charles and Margaret Burden. He was retired from National Southwire.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Burden of Fordsville.

Services are 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville. Burial will follow in Beatty Cemetery with military honors by the Ohio County Honor Guard. Visitation will be 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday and from noon until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Claudine Richmond Davis, 84, of Fordsville, died Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at her home.  She was a homemaker and a member of Providence Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Jurden "Gabby" Davis; and a son, Larry Davis.

Survivors include three sons, Kelly Davis, Gary Davis and Tony Davis; a daughter, Wanda Moore; a brother, Gene Richmond; and three sisters, Dona Hialdbrand, Lillian Hilton and Mary Timberlake.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2019, at Geary Funeral Home with burial in Fordsville Cemetery.  Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
